| Sceptre Leisure (LON:SCEL) - Skill, not chance Monday, Aug 01 2011 by Edison Investment Research http://www.stockopedia.co.uk/research/skill-not-chance-58675/ http://www.edisoninvestmentresearch.co.uk/?ACT=18&ID=5534 Aug 01st 2011 - Edison Investment Research today published a report on Sceptre Leisure (SCEL.L, LSE:SCEL, LON:SCEL) entitled "Skill, Not Chance". In summary, the report says: Industry conditions remain very tough but Sceptre has significant scope to continue to grow its 11% market share while keeping a tight rein on costs. FY11 results were £0.3m below market expectations (mainly due new rules for âskill with prizeâ machines) and we reduced our FY12 normalised PBT estimates by £0.5m. However, Sceptre is highly cash generative and is well placed to look for further earnings accretive consolidation opportunities. On a medium-term view the 7.2x P/E looks low for a well financed rental business with a solid recurring income. By SpikeyDT |

| Sceptre plays lottery 26/07/2011 Ben Jaglom http://www.growthcompany.co.uk/news/1643373/sceptre-plays-lottery.thtml AIM-quoted gaming group Sceptre Leisure (SCEL) has reported a 14.2 per cent decrease in pre-tax profits to £1.64 million for the year to April amidst what it calls 'another year of challenging trading conditions'. The Preston-headquartered concern also announced a fall in sales from £42.8 million to £38.6 million with EPS slumping from 3p to 2.5p. Its net debt position reduced by £2.5 million to £13.4 million. The company was affected over the period by a change in tax law that resulted in a number of games being removed from its machines to comply with HMRC requirements. Sceptre lamented that this contributed towards weekly revenue per machine falling from the £29.98 in 2010 to the £23.82 it reported this year. In an interview with Growth Company Investor chief executive Ken Turner remarked that Sceptre is operating in 'tough and challenging markets' adding that the HMRC requirements led to a 20 per cent fall in revenue from its quiz machines, with games such as Deal or No Deal having to be removed. Despite the fall in sales and profits, he argued that 'pubs desperately need income from machines' with Turner claiming that 50 per cent of the profits of pub giant J D Wetherspoon come from gaming machines. Looking forward he identified the plan as being to focus on both acquisitions and organic growth, although he acknowledged 'these austerity measures are not helping us.' Following the results analysts at Panmure Gordon downgraded their pre-tax profit forecast for 2012 from £2.9 million to £2.4 million, lowering its EPS forecast from 3.3p to 2.8p. For 2013 its forecasts were lowered to £2.8 million in profits (EPS: 3.3p.) Growth Company Investor downgraded shares in Sceptre from add to hold last October at 29.5p and they have since lost 22.4 per cent to 23p as consumer wallets tighten and the challenges faced by the pub sector continue. We downgrade the shares to reduce as we think wider industry difficulties may lead to further pressures on the share price in the short-term. | Sceptre Leisure (LON:SCEL) - Winning new contracts Tuesday, May 10 2011 by Edison Investment Research 0 comments May 10th 2011 - Edison Investment Research today published a report on Sceptre Leisure (SCEL.L, LSE:SCEL, LON:SCEL) entitled "Winning New Contracts". In summary, the report says: Sceptre has announced a slew of new contracts and renewals, illustrating its continuing success in winning market share. Trading remains very tough, but amusement machines remain an important source of income for pubs. Final results are due in mid-July and our estimates are unchanged. We expect net debt to have declined to £14.4m. Gearing is very low for a rental business and Sceptre is well placed to take advantage of consolidation opportunities in a fragmented sector. http://www.stockopedia.co.uk/research/winning-new-contracts-56362/ By SpikeyDT |

| Sceptre Leisure pulls in new gaming machine contracts with brewery groups Monday, Mar 21 2011 by Stockopedia Ken Turner, CEO, Sceptre Leisure plc Gaming machine operator Sceptre Leisure (LON:SCEL) has picked up a new £1.5m contract with pub chain Daniel Thwaites plc (PLUS:THW). The two year deal will see Sceptre supply more than 450 machines to around 50% of Thwaites managed and tenanted estate. It follows a contract win last month for Sceptre to supply 200 machines to Cardiff-based brewer SA Brains. Todays news moved the Sceptre Leisure share price up by half a penny to 18p. Ken Turner, Sceptres chief executive, said: The new Thwaites deal underlines the close working relationship developed between our two companies over more than twelve years and we are delighted to be able to continue this association. Coupled to our recent contract win for new business from Brains, I believe this demonstrates that Sceptre continues to offer the most innovative and customer-focused coin-op solutions available to pub operators across the UK. Sceptre is the second-largest operator of amusement machines in the UK, and the only national operator to offer-fully manned depots in all areas of the country. In the six months to October 2010, group revenue fell by 7.1% to £19.7m and pre-tax profits were down 33% to £0.6m. Profits were largely impacted by costs connected to asset acquisitions and disposals. Last November the company acquired the machine assets and operations of RV Smith (Leisure) Ltd in a deal worth £1.2m. That purchase added 925 machines in 277 leisure sites to Sceptres portfolio and strengthened its presence in the south of England. The deal followed the acquisition of Australian 8 Ball Ltd in December 2009. http://www.stockopedia.co.uk/content/sceptre-leisure-pulls-in-new-gaming-machine-contracts-with-brewery-groups-54976/ By SpikeyDT |

| By Ben Jaglom Gaming group Sceptre Leisure has reported an impressive £3.6m increase in sales to £42.8m for the year to April. Preston-headquartered Sceptre, which also unveiled improved annual pre-tax profits of £1.9m (2009: £1.4m), is the business behind a number of brands including Sceptre Leisure Solutions, which provides fruit machines for hire to pubs and leisure venues across the UK, lottery ticket company Lotteryking and Kellys Eye, the supplier of bingo, darts and poker to registered members clubs. Last December saw the company acquire Dorset-based amusement machine supplier Australian 8 Ball in a £1.1m deal, which the companys CEO Ken Turner insists 'strengthened Sceptres position in the important southern marketplace.' Turner adds Sceptre continues to look for similar, earnings-enhancing acquisitions within the fragmented machine-operator market. A highly cash-generative business, Sceptre nonetheless faces the challenges of increasing pub closures pubs represent the majority of its machine locations as well as the squeezed consumer, while sizeable debts of £15.9m, though standing against substantial assets, nonetheless represent a sizeable risk at a time in which access to finance is tightening. Analysts at Edison are forecasting adjusted pre-tax profits of £2.5m on sales down £1.8m for the year to April 2011, with earnings per share forecast to stay flat at 3.4p. Recommended by Growth Company Investor at 33p in early 2009, Sceptre Leisure's shares went as high as 72p but have recently fallen back to 29.5p, where they are worth holding onto for their recovery potential. http://www.growthcompany.co.uk/recommendations/1294108/sceptre-leisure.thtml By petrit |

| "The Company is pleased to announce that on 19th April 2010 it sold its Fixed Odds Betting Terminal (FOBT) rental business to Global Draw Limited for a total cash consideration of £3.75m". Nice cash injection to buy more money making machines. This is a great little company with huge cash generating potential from fruit machine and lottery machines rentals in pubs and clubs.
