16:06 17/05/2012 Sure of shell
Hopefully I can be sure of shell. First purchase ever here. Seems like a sensible move at current yield. Will buy a few more if they drift further. Was tempted to top up my BP but thought I would spread the risk in case they crack open the earth again.

Australian LNG joint venture with Petro China, source said that "...So far the cost has risen 30-40 percent. Now it is expected to rise by up to 50 percent,"

Agree with LKH & JW, dividend increase appears a little over-cautious given the EPS increase, and particularly the operating and free cash flow increases of 56% and 23%.

Last year's US$/£ rate was $1.63 for the divi so I'm hoping that sterling does not strengthen from its current $1.62 over the next couple of months ($1.67 would blow the increase). Why they do this is beyond me, but then I've carped on about this before.

Solid results though. By mutandis13

Disappointing to see Shell sell part of its exciting floating LNG project to Korean and Chinese companies. One can understand a bit of risk sharing, but one can envisage the Chinese getting Foxconn to run off copies in no time flat unless Shell can keep its technology very close to its chest, which is hellish difficult when one has equity partners.

Oh well, never mind, eh? The results seem to have been pretty well received.

Jack,

Yeah, it's a bit stingey, ain't it, especially compared to Esso and Chevron's stonking great increases! Stiil, Shell already has a high yield whereas t'other two are starting from a lower base.

What's a bit odd is that the divi policy seems to be reverting to the old "grow divis in line with inflation" thingy, whereas I thought they were gonna vary it more in line with changes in earnings, which would mean that it would jump around more.

Whatever, Modigliani Miller would say it don't signify either way.

I've just woken up, and it might just be the eye-bogies blurring my vision, but it looks as though Shell have rasied their dividend!

2.4% against a double-digit rise in profits seems pretty mean, though.

6:16 20/04/2012 V POWER vs Excellum vs Momentum and the rest
Hey guys,

Was hoping some one would be able to help me distinguish between the premier fuels that are supplied. Which one is the best and why is it the best please?

Many thanks

PIE-EATER,

I became a proud Tesco shareholder after their recent sickening plunge, since which time they've fallen a bit further, so I'm gonna take every opportunity to big 'em up, I'm afraid.
