If there was a correlation between the share price and divs then heaven help us all. I for one bought a few more shares in DGO today - with every last penny I had in my ISA. By hereford bull

It is up to the plan managers to provide the DIVIDEND VOUCHER or Certified copy direct to the relevant tax authority.

Then the individual can make a claim.

H&L will I understand claim on your behalf if the holding in in a Fund & Share Account.

My wife has a very small holding in a Fund & Share Account, my mistake should have been in a ISA,, but never bothered to transfer.

I have requested H&L to claim the DWT, back dated, waiting to see if this claim suceeds before making a decision on transfering to a Fund & Share Account, request a Certificate or transfer to another plan manager.

F2000, You got me worried. I had to go back over my notes from last year and recheck back online.

https://investments.hsbc.co.uk/pdf/40213_invest_direct_kfd.pdf

Page 5, Top of page, Right hand column. Indicates no initial charge or annual management fee. Also claims no charges to fund or transferring in, from HSBC anyway. You current provider may charges to transfer out!

Page 9 and 10 lists applicable fees for Invest Direct products.
I was informed last year that the “Annual Management” and “Other expenses charge” highlighted near top of Page 10, actually applies to the HSBC UK Fund of Funds product only. However, I’ll be calling the service desk again to double check that no annual management fee will apply to an ISA holding stocks only.

HSBC Invest Direct - 7:30am-9:30pm 08456 080848 (or 01226 261090)

I’m currently paying 0.5% annual management to H-L for, well not a lot. So, should gain anyway from a switch even if I don’t automatically get DWT back!

One drawback is that the HSBC online Banking system seems very complicated and unclear.

BP Fan,
I do have 2 accounts with HSBC. Current and savings. 2 Q's: Does it cost to transfer and what is HSBC annual Management charge, as currently there are no charges with III. By Fizzin2000

Reply from iDealing.

We can confirm that we do indeed have documentation in place regarding Dragon Oil dividend payment WHT tax exemption. At present we have this in place until 2015 to receive the dividend gross unless it is revoked by us or unless the tax regulations change in the Republic of Ireland.

Fiz2000,
I'm in process of move my DGO holding over to HSBC's Invest Direct ISA - Others have indicated that HSBC are authorised to reclaim Irish DWT direct (1 of just 2 Cos in the UK). You’ll need to open two other HSBC accounts to get to open their ID-ISA. Then fund or transfer from your old provider. Major Hassle. I'm just hoping it will be worth it once done.

remember that well but fortunately ENOC didnt get away with it. I sold and refused to reinvest in DGO due to that debarcle. Nothing short of attempted highway robbery.

However, looking like a bargain at the moment so principles have got up the chimney. By worsleybird

Don't hold you breath Rob. Sent mine off in January and received euro warrant in May. Barclays obviously provided evidence from the tax Voucher of my ownership directly to the tax office. By osammyboy
9:04 22/05/2012 Reclaiming DWT - Barclays
Last week I received letter/certificate from Barclays showing my DGO holding, amount of
dividend paid and tax paid for 2011.
I have printed off forms from Irish Government to reclaim DWT, filled it in and posted it yesterday with the documents from Barclays.
I wasn't going to bother after all I have seen written here but when this letter arrived I decided
for the price of a stamp I would give it a go.
I will update with any response I get ................. fingers crossed 'every little helps' By robrobson

MM, From what others had previously stated I'd assumed that you just needed a copy of the Tax Voucher + copy proof that you are on the beneficial owner list. Then get the UK Tax Mans stamp that your UK resident and then send to the Irish Tax Man.

Sending a single list of all beneficial owners’ sounds like a great idea. But, and this is a very big BUT, the data protection act will almost certainly ban this. After all you are requesting the bulk transmission, to a third party, of a list of names, share holdings and possibly addresses of people who haven’t given permission for their data to be used in this way!

My key concern is if you can request the returned DWT cheque to be Sterling rather than Euros. If it’s only in Euros your bank will charge so much to change into Sterling for most of us it just isn’t worth the hassle.

I have not tried reclaiming DWT with iii since they parted with Halifax. The halifax girls were the helpful ones for me, so I don;t know what iii attitude to it is. We just need to find a slightly helpful online broker and use them in future.

All they have to do themselves is send ONE copy of the dividend voucher, and a list of all beneficial owners.

We can then individually claim, and the Irish DWT office just refers to the beneficial owners list to see if our claim is valid.

So all the broker has to do is send a list and voucher once, and we individually do the rest. Some online broker somewhere must surely be prepared to do this without a fight each time. I'll be asking iii shortly and let you know how I get on. By MoleMan99
